Write A Friend month began with a lovely snow in my area, inviting certain expectations regarding winter weather. I feel as though the month of December is all about managing expectations. The goals that I set for myself for this year - the ones I have yet to accomplish - feel overly impactful and sometimes suffocating. The desires I have for the holiday season - time with friends & family, budget for gifts & travel - may not come to fruition in the way I hope. It's easy to find yourself with too much on your plate, and equally easy to feel that you are failing when every demand is not met.
Striving for the highest possible achievement pushes us toward our optimum potential; discovering what those metrics are for an individual can make progress feel more encouraging.
There are writing to-do's on my list that I did not achieve this year. I didn't achieve them last year either, and I might not achieve them next year. But I am committed to continue trying. And not accomplishing that particular goal does not detract from the other goals that I did accomplish this year.
Celebrate your successes, challenge yourself so you don't stagnate, and try your best.
