Though none of the jobs I've held since high school have been seasonal, I've never outgrown the anticipation and excitement of summer. Hot weather, cool water, meals with burgers and corn on the cob and watermelon. Long days mean more time for activities with family and friends. County festivals, traveling carnivals, city fairs, and neighborhood barbecues. Theatre performances in the park and concerts on the lake/river. I still hold all the enthusiam and enjoyment of a nine year old for each event; I don't even complain about parking.
I'm lucky to live in an area with so much to offer, seasonally and year-round.
It can be difficult to claim time for yourself as an adult. Household management, home projects, everyday chores, and job responsibilities all require attention and effort. Recharging yourself with a bit of fun - whether that's 30 minutes of reading time in a comfortable spot or a day trip to the zoo - is essential to keeping you in condition to accomplish those tasks and everything else on your to-do list. It is not selfish to prioritize your well-being, and doing so for as few as 30 minutes each day will boost your outlook and overall productivity. Live those moments of wonder and let them inspire you.
