It's autumn in my house! Replacing seasonal decor helps me adhere to a cleaning schedule. It also raises my excitement for the activities and festivals of a new season. Even though the temperature / humidity pairing in my area is still flirting with unbearable, I'm envisioning enjoying a bonfire with baked apples while wrapped in my favorite flannel.
Personal goals, including social and environmental goals, help me measure time and get me away from my laptop. I tend to get lost in my creative bubble, especially because I work at home. Balancing personal, social, and work time has always been a challenge for me; I get a rush from completing tasks, especially when there's a visual component to the achievement, so I lean more heavily into physical accomplishments.
Writing is decidedly not that. It helps to have a small group of trusted creatives with whom to share gains; the fulfilment feels greater / more real when someone is celebrating it with you.
I hope you have fellows you can rely on to support your creativity and validate your effort this month (*every month). To my eye, autumn is a season full of social festivals, with many activities fostering camaraderie. We all need that community and reassurance before bleak weather rolls in. Let yourself be uplifted!
